Flush It Out: How to Help Your Body Detox Naturally

Toxins: Why They Matter and What You Can Do About Them

We hear the word toxins everywhere—on social media, in commercials, and even on product warning labels. But what are toxins, really? In simple terms, they’re substances—chemical, microbial, or physical—that disrupt the body’s biological systems. Everyday exposure comes from sources like medications, heavy metals, personal care products, pollution, and pesticides. A groundbreaking 2005 study by the Environmental Working Group revealed 287 industrial chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of newborns. Of these, 217 were known neurotoxins, 208 linked to birth defects, and 200 traced to waste byproducts from garbage incineration and fossil fuel combustion.

It is really important to 'clean out your womb' as you prepare for pregnancy. This will help lower the risk of any possible birth defects.

Living in such a chemically saturated world means we must be proactive in supporting the body’s detoxification systems. Twice-a-year drainage protocols can be a game-changer for the liver and kidneys. I recommend to my clients a homeopathic drainage with UNDA numbers and phytotherapy. It is fantastic for providing a gentle push of toxins from the cell. Some herbal detox methods can be a little too aggressive for the cell, and can end up tearing the cell wall.

The liver is our metabolic gatekeeper, processing everything from nutrients and hormones to toxins, alcohol, and medications. If you're struggling with hormonal, digestive, or metabolic issues, it's wise to start by evaluating liver function. And remember—detoxification isn’t just about the liver. The intestines, kidneys, bladder, lungs, and skin all work together as elimination pathways. But if one system is sluggish, the whole process can back up.

10 Ways to Support Natural Detoxification

1. Stay Hydrated
Water is essential for flushing toxins through urine and sweat. Aim for 8+ glasses daily—more if you’re active or in a hot climate.

2. Eat Whole Foods
A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains supports digestive health and elimination. Avoid ultra-processed foods that add to your toxic burden.

3. Move Your Body
Exercise stimulates lymphatic flow and circulation, moving waste through tissues more efficiently. A brisk walk or light workout daily goes a long way.

4. Breathe Deeply
Deep breathing activates the lymphatic system. Try yoga or diaphragmatic breathing exercises to support detox from the inside out.

5. Dry Brushing
Use a natural bristle brush before showering to stimulate lymphatic flow and exfoliate the skin—your body’s largest detox organ.

6. Lymphatic Massage
Targeted massage techniques can manually move lymphatic fluid, promoting detox and reducing fluid retention.

7. Reduce Stress
Chronic stress impairs detox pathways. Mindfulness, nature walks, or simple breathing exercises can work wonders.

8. Promote Regularity
Constipation leads to reabsorbed toxins. Fiber-rich foods and proper hydration help maintain healthy bowel movements.

9. Avoid Known Toxins
Limit exposure to harmful chemicals by using natural personal care and cleaning products.

10. Herbal Allies
Herbs like milk thistle, burdock, and dandelion root support liver and kidney detox. Always consult a practitioner before adding new supplements.

In some cases, deeper cellular cleansing is needed—especially for chronic, intracellular issues. That’s where biotherapeutic drainage and numbered UNDA compounds come in. These formulas target all five stages of detoxification: cellular, hepatic, secondary catabolization, renal/pulmonary, and emunctory.

Detox is more complex than a juice cleanse, but incredibly rewarding when done correctly.
